Could you tell me if it's common to rent a single room (won-nun) or a dormitory (gi-suksa) around Hanyang University? If renting a single room, what are the typical prices for check-in fees, rent, and management fees? I'm preparing to apply and want to find out beforehand.
I used to live near Hanyang University, so I'll share some information. If you choose a room for rent near the school, the check-in fee is usually around 5 million to 10 million won, and the monthly rent is around 40-60 million won, not including management fees. The price depends on the distance from the school; the closer, the more expensive. Apartment buildings are much cheaper, but you usually have to go by lottery, so not everyone gets in. If you want to save even more, you can look for a temporary apartment, but the rooms are quite small, only suitable for temporary living. Back then, I rented a room about a 10-minute walk from the school gate, the monthly rent was 50,000 won, plus a 70,000 won management fee, and the room was clean and decent.
